Height:  what height do you need to clear (it's better to overestimate a bit).

Application: whether the ladder is for professional work or domestic settings (this affects the classification of the EN131 standard you will require)

Material: does it need to be non-conductive? If so, you'll need a fibreglass ladder rather than aluminium.
